Rangers winger Sean Avery was at the MSG Training Center today, instructing at the Rangers Youth Hockey Camp. He took time out from his schedule to talk to reporters about the Blueshirts’ off-season changes and his preparation for next season.

On Tuesday, the Rangers announced that they had exercised their right to "walk away" from the contract terms that an arbitrator had awarded to winger Nikolai Zherdev over the weekend. The decision makes the 24-year-old an unrestricted free agent.

The annual Rangers Youth Hockey Camp got under way on Monday with two former Rangers serving as instructors. Watch Adam Graves and Brian Mullen as they interact with young campers on the ice at the Madison Square Garden Training Center.

The night of Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, was a monumental one for the Rangers, as it marked John Tortorella’s first victory as the Blueshirts’ head coach. On Wednesday night at 7 p.m., MSG will replay that historic 6-1 win over the Avs in its entirety.

The 2009-10 European preseason continued on Thursday, and Rangers draft pick Zdenek Bahensky scored in his second straight game for Mlada Boleslav’s lone goal in a 4-1 road loss to its Czech Extraliga rival Plzen team run by Martin Straka. 

Tony Amonte spent three memorable years with the Rangers in the early 1990s, and nearly won the Calder Trophy as a rookie. The 1988 Blueshirts draftee, a five-time NHL All-Star, was honored Tuesday with selection to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.

Ten Rangers teams have played in the Stanley Cup Finals, and the 1931-32 squad was one of them. Among the key players on the team was a 20-year-old rookie named Earl Seibert (above), who would go on to become a Hall of Fame defenseman.

History was made at the MSG Training Center this week, as the Rangers organization held its first youth hockey camp just for goalies. Former Blueshirts netminder Dan Blackburn was the lead instructor for this unique experience. Check out video.
